Is religion an evolutionary trait?

Or perhaps a byproduct of the formation of complex social communities?

I think religions existed many of thousands of years before we had social communities that we would consider “complex”

Evidence of religion dates back to the middle Paleolithic

I think an interesting PhD thesis could be done on the topic that the formation of complex social structures, especially government and the notion of a complex hierarchy, laid the groundwork for the invention of monotheism.

Do you think having a monarchal structure to society, having a king led to a centralized ideal which resulted in more widespread acceptance of monotheism?

Clearly, there were cultures that had kings without monotheism, so it’s not a one-to-one correspondence

But I think it was a requisite

Well everything is relative. Any religious thought especially in the beginning is still coming from a foundation of complex socializations

I think it’s hard to find any group of people, no matter how small, in any pocket of the planet, that doesn’t have a religion so I think the evidence points the other direction

I mean I don’t remember who said it but we are all atheists since many ppl disregard so many other religions in favor of their own.

I think ppl join religions has less to do with the religion and more to do with being apart of a community.

So even with the “big bang” nothing can escape time. & while where talking about time, I think it’s a good thing to mention “time” is just an interchangeable definition. Meaning, it’s just one of many words, to describe the thing we’re referring to. (“the thing” being life)
