What church? There are thousands.
Thousands that disagree with each other on both major and minor doctrine.
I have a church. Does that mean that I have authority to consider you a heretic or not? See what I mean?
𝗜𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰?
You’d know based on if it lines with what the early church believed
I mean within your church you technically can
And yeah within your church as duck said
If you gather enough followers to agree with that idea
The question is. What did the early church believe? 😎
A bunch of stuff, we still have the letters of a lot of them so from reading them we can know
That all changed when Rome took it over.
If we go to the time of Jesus the church was the people of that time. No building yet
Which the people were the foundations for what would become the actual churches
Yes but by Acts and the epistles of Paul there were churches
Yes there were but it was all one faith.
But even then they disagreed with each other on things. And the only true way is to follow the path of Christ. Not man.

Now we have thousands of Christian denominations that all claim to have the Holy Spirit but all disagree with each other on both major and minor doctrine.
Ofc there were some things they disagreed on but there were things they all agreed on
Study and debate will get you far.
But you also have to not have any biases or predispositions. Have to read the Bible for itself. Not with a religious or denominational bias.
And not just read the Bible. Study the Hebrew. The Koine Greek. Biblical scholastics, history, etc.

I have. I’ve read everything I could get my hands on.
Every denomination disagrees with something about the other.
It’s my mission to breakdown denominational biases. 😎
And the original languages. Not modern translations.
Can't forget those who don't realize a lot of the Bible is parables and hyperboles.
I am a Sephardic Jew by blood, but I have accepted Yeshua as messiah.
So my understandings of the biblical culture comes in handy.
