We had too much excessive wasteful spending Jun. Unnecessary stuff that was going nowhere. Recession would be good to clean out all the fraud and abuse, and reprioritize . Let's get real, most people don't have their priorities straight. People been living in La la land for far too long!

China imports are mostly elastic products. It's convenient and most who enjoy being comfortable can't live without it but are they must have for survival? Absolutely not like food and energy are inelastic which usa can produce for itself.

We could theoretically produce almost everything we get from China but would be much more expensive, due to us having labor and environmental regulations. Some products would also take more time to onshore the supply chain.

I don’t think the Fed is doing (or not doing) stuff to spite trump, I think they are doing what they think the data tells them. They were also slow to actually start raising rates in the first place (which helped to fuel inflation)

Imo they should have raised rates higher and sooner. Which would have likely allowed them to drop them sooner too
