This isliterally not how any of this works. Applying for citizenship, even through parents, isn’t something that can be done at the port of entry
At any rate, even if Trump’s EO were allowed to go into effect, which I think is unlikely (but not impossible given that the law doesn’t matter anymore) it would only effect babies born from the date of the EO forward. Your wife would be grandfathered in
Again, none of this would matter as his executive order only applies to babies born after the order was signed
The executive order is plainly unconstitutional
But if the Supreme Court says it is, which they could, then it is. Rule by fiat
If the Supreme Court is going to start misinterpreting plain readings of law (which, to be clear, they have already begun doing), then none of this stuff matters
And in which case we’re probably better off scediing
This is a topic that it’s fair to have a debate about. But it would need to be addressed by a constitutional amendment, not an executive order
My personal opinion, if someone is born here and then lives and grows up here, I think it’s reasonable for them ti have citizenship. It’s the only home they’ve ever known, regardless of how their parents came here.
but for kids born here whose moms were on tourist visas and then took the babies back to their home country, I think it’s ok for them not to be citizens
Yeah that would be a disaster
If they’re criminals, but citizens, you try them in a court of law, and if convicted, hand down a sentence that may include imprisonment. This isn’t difficult
I’d argue that he’s probably just trolling… but we all know that people like him actually do exist
