The advantage of the hsa was if you are young and healthy you get to roll over that money to the following year
But i had to blow most of it for the allergist
Yes I’m surprised the patient responsibility was that high. Charges are always high but nobody expects to actually get paid that much. It’s an odd setup.
HSA love it…reduces my taxable income 🙌🏼
HSA’s seem like a good idea, but that kind of thing makes me question it
If you look at studies on studies on high deductible plans, you will she a lot of people just delay getting healthcare
The theory is that costs would go down if people knew how much they are paying
I max out everything possible to reduce my taxable income
I just do a regular ppo now instead of hsa
its sometimes cheaper to get a plane ticket to india and get health care there and come back
Good conversation. No easy answers.
It’s still expensive I’d say over here if you’re not used to this. Taxes or not
Specially without insurance for my case
Oh you definitely need insurance, or you’re f’ed
You should look into getting medicaid
My son, with one heck of an insurance plan, paid $12,000 out of pocket for his ACL surgery
After having paid $12,000 for a surgery to fix a different surgery
And we have family in health care billing and hospital management that helped us get the bill reduced as much as possible.
Good insurance or not, who can afford that twice????
Im extremely lucky, great insurance. I had 3 kids in the NICU for a while, I had a surgery a few years ago, paid maybe a couple hundred bucks out of pocket for all of it.
Super blue and duct tape. Haha
I’m sorry JJ! my daughter got her tonsils out and the surgeon didn’t fully cauterize the incisions so she lost a ton of blood. They had to do a second surgery to fix the first and we got billed for both……it was terrible!
$12k later after insurance that we had to pay out of pocket. It was rough!
That’s why I won’t get mine out as an adult
