My intention was not to get him in trouble my intention. My intention was to get out of the uncomfortable situation. So I apologized because it got him in trouble

I think you should just make sure toxic people are kept away with boundaries. Its difficult at first but if deep inside you know something is not healthy for you, you can cut off easily. Never apologise for someone you’re not. And harassment is not a joke so please report it asap. That way you’ll get confidence to fight for things.
