AntiLand Team Member Handbook

For nearly a decade, AntiLand operated without a handbook. Throughout these years, every newcomer who joined us, no matter their role, was expected to acclimate without much guidance. As we evolved from a single-person start-up to a robust team of about 100 contributors, including engineers, designers, managers, lawyers, and moderators, it became apparent that our approach needed a change. The once effective "baptism by fire" method turned into a source of stress and confusion for newcomers, particularly due to the unique aspects of our company. Our belief is that, when starting at AntiLand, there's as much to unlearn as there is to learn. Before this handbook, the journey of assimilation was primarily spoken, not written - quite incongruent for a company that values clarity and articulation.

This handbook is our platform to share invaluable insights about AntiLand: the company, our culture, our methods, and our journey so far.

Through this handbook, we aim to articulate our identity as a company. What are our values? How do we operate? This handbook transforms our beliefs into something tangible, and, crucially, editable. We aspire to constantly improve ourselves as a company, but to enhance what isn't defined is a difficult task. Therefore, whatever iteration of this handbook you're perusing, know that it's not the final one. We encourage your contributions to keep it current, and by that, we don't only mean fixing typos or updating team changes. It's just as crucial to ensure that the handbook reflects our real practices and not just our ideals. We aim to avoid creating a handbook that paints an idealized picture instead of portraying our genuine operations. Let's ensure our handbook is rooted in honesty.

If you're a new member reading this, we especially count on you. Those of us who've been at AntiLand for some time might miss the cracks, but your fresh eyes are an advantage. Embrace the novelty and ask questions.
