Can I ask questions here??
My ADHD is grabbing all of my hyper fixation mental folders and is prepared as a mf right now.
Oh. Sure, just keep questions respectful š
itās pretty much never respectful
So my friend came out to me as trans but said that they feel confused still
Or what can I say to let them know that Iām understand but like idk?
First off, thank you for not turning your back on them. Letās just take a minute to appreciate that.
They probably are just needing more time to settle into who they are. Iād just ask them what pronouns they want to be referred to with, and if they have a name they want to go by or try out.
As for understanding, Iāll try to think of an example that makes sense.
Imagine you park your car in a parking lot. You come back, get in your car, but you realize it isnāt your car. You try to get out, but youāre locked in. Everyone else insists āNo, this is your car. Itās the same color, make, model.ā But on the inside, that isnāt your coffee in the cup holder and the air freshener isnāt yours. It isnāt your car.
Thatās how it feels kinda.
Thatās such a great way to explain! I love it here. I learn so much lol
Also hi everyone š«¶š»
Ohhh okay yeah yeah I understand that
Iāll text my friend to see if they wanna hang and talk about it
No problem! I think it would be fine. Just let them know that youāre new to this, and that youāre going to do your best to be supportive. Maybe find a local PFLAG meeting, too.
Iām not really new to this but I am new to the part where my friend is confused and I try to help her out
Probably doesnāt make sense
Youāre welcome š
It makes sense. Is your friend seeing a therapist or do they have a community to lean on?
Should I talk to my friend about that ??
It may help them to find a therapist and other trans people to talk to. PFLAG may also be a good resource for her, too.
If sheās open to suggestions, definitely.
I canāt really contribute to this conversation but Iām here lurking lol ššæ
Are they leaning toward identifying as male or female? There are some groups on f book that may help
She has came as gay and a few years after she came out at trans
Okay. Iām in trans guy groups, but I can try to find a few group names that are helpful and not drama-filled.
Iāve played mentor to a few trans people. Been a while but I can dust off the gloves and see what I can find.
