Yep. My team vs Ash's team. Montreal vs Detroit. If montreal wins, we secure our spot in the playoffs and the Red Wings(Detroit) and the Rangers(New york) will be eliminated from competition. But if Detroit wins, they still have a very miniscule chance to make the playoffs

If teams are tied at the end of the 3rd period, they'll go to over time, and if still nobody scores, they go to a shootout

I think overtime is still unlimited in playoffs. Some games went as long as two games

Longest game ever gone was 6 overtimes. 116 minutes n 30 seconds.

Keep in mind, there's 20 minutes in a game per period.
